Tindigani Community Park

Where public open space in Arusha's informal settlements exists at all, it is often unsafe, unmaintained and avoided. UPC's Community Parks Initiative supports communities to reclaim that land as parks worth using.

In Kimandolu ward, UPC improved Tindigani Community Park, adding facilities that encourage physical activity, social interaction and community wellbeing. Participatory planning with residents and local leaders determined what the park needed, ensuring that disadvantaged groups had both access to it and a say in its design and management.

Tindigani is one of several parks through which UPC is working towards healthier urban neighbourhoods, where recreation, active living and healthy food are within reach of the people who live there.
