About this project

Farmers markets connect smallholders directly to urban consumers, but in Tanzania they sit across several ministries and local government mandates with no single policy framework behind them.

UPC prepared a technical paper for the FAO's Rural Transformation and Gender Equality Division setting out where the country's farmers markets stand, the policies and regulations that shape them, and how they are governed in practice at national and local level.
