FinScope is Tanzania's national study of financial inclusion. The 2023 round needed qualitative depth behind the headline figures: not only how many people hold insurance or use merchant payments, but why.
UPC delivered the qualitative strand, a mixed methods analysis of how households decide which expenses come first, what draws people towards insurance or away from it, how consumer protection is experienced in practice, and what shapes the use of merchant payments.
